CGPA to percentage formula
CBSE, VTU, GTU, Mumbai University, and more use different CGPA-to-percentage formulas. TryCalculatingNow converts with the right one.
Open the job
There is no single, universal CGPA-to-percentage formula. Boards and universities publish their own conversion, and using the wrong one over- or under-states your real percentage.
The most common default — CBSE and many general 10-point scales — is Percentage = CGPA × 9.5. An 8.2 CGPA becomes 77.9%.
Others differ on purpose:
- VTU (Visvesvaraya): Percentage = (CGPA − 0.75) × 10 → 8.2 → 74.5%
- GTU (Gujarat): Percentage = (CGPA − 0.5) × 10 → 8.2 → 77%
- Mumbai University (CBCS): Percentage = 7.1 × CGPA + 11 → 8.2 → 69.2%
- Anna University: usually printed on the grade sheet directly — no single multiplier applies
Same 8.2 CGPA, four different percentages depending on which formula your institution actually uses. TryCalculatingNow’s CGPA to percentage converter lets you pick the right one instead of assuming ×9.5 for everyone — math runs in your browser, nothing is uploaded. Each board or university publishes its own conversion circular — CBSE, VTU, GTU, and Mumbai University are the actual authorities, not this post — always confirm against your official handbook for anything that goes on a form.
